世界に広がるインターネット |
インターネットは 1969年に作られた ARPANET が起源です。
最初は４つの大学のコンピュータがネットワークで接続されていました。
接続されるコンピュータは徐々に増えていき、
1988年には
カナダ、デンマーク、フィンランド、フランスなどの７カ国にも接続されました。
このページの地図は、インターネット（およびその他のネットワーク）に接続されている
地域を色分けして表したものです。
1991年6月 から 1997年6月 までの地図を並べ、
右側のボタンをクリックすると表示が瞬時に切り替わるようにしてみました。
インターネットが世界中に広がっていく様子がよく分かります。

画像サイズをやや縮小し、Version 6 の原画像は他の Version のものと一部の配色が異なっていたため、
配色を統一するための修正を施してあります。
ftp://ftp.cs.wisc.edu/connectivity_table/ には、Version 16 (1997年6月) 以降、
バージョンアップされた画像がアップロードされていませんので、最後の 「現在」 の図は、
インターネットの国別普及率表
のデータに基づいて、私が編集・改訂したものです。
